How to Reset Your SamTrans Login Password and Unlock Your Account

Overview

If you’ve forgotten your password, need to reset it, or have been locked out of your account, you can fix it in two ways:

  1. On the Office 365 Website: You can reset your password or unlock your account by going to portal.office.com. This option uses your email to verify who you are.
  2. On Your Windows Computer: If you're locked out of your computer, you can try to reset your password right from the login screen by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete. If that option doesn’t show up, or you’re still locked out, contact IT Helpdesk (https://servicedesk.smctd.com) for help.

Important: This applies only to your SamTrans login credentials (used for Windows, email, and Microsoft 365) and does not affect your PeopleSoft or other system passwords.

Instructions

Option 1: Reset Your Password or Unlock Your Account on Office 365

  1. Open your web browser (like Chrome or Edge) and go to portal.office.com.
  2. Under the password box, click "Can’t access your account?"

  1. When asked, choose Work or school account.

  1. Type your SamTrans email address and follow the steps to verify you're you (like typing some letters you see on the screen).
    Tip: Make sure to use your @samtrans.com email address.

  1. Choose to reset your password or unlock your account.

  1. Pick how you’d like to get a code to verify your identity

  1. Follow the instructions you get to reset your password or unlock your account.
  2. Once you’re done, log in with your new password or re-access your unlocked account.

Option 2: Reset or Unlock Your Account on Your Windows Computer

  1. At the login screen, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete on your keyboard.
  2. If your account is locked or you need to reset your password, click "Reset Password" (you will see this only if your computer is set up for it).

  1. Enter your SamTrans email address and complete the security check.
    Tip: Make sure to use your @samtrans.com email address.
  2. If you don’t see the option to reset or can’t unlock your account, contact the IT Helpdesk at https://servicedesk.smctd.com for help.
  3. Follow the steps to reset your password or unlock your account.
  4. Once done, log in using your new password.
