Overview
The HEIF (High Efficiency Image Format) and HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) formats allow for efficient storage of high-quality photos.
However, these files may not be compatible with all software, so you might need to convert them to a more universally supported format like JPEG. Here’s a simple way to convert these files using the built-in Photos app.
Instructions
-
Open the HEIC Image
- Locate the HEIC photo on your computer, right-click, and select Open with > Photos to open it in the Photos app.
-
Access the Save Options
- Click on the ellipsis icon (three dots) in the top-right corner of the Photos app.

-
Select "Save as"
- From the dropdown menu, click on Save as.

-
Change the File Type
- In the Save as type field, select **JPEG (.jpg; .jpeg) to convert the image to JPEG format.

-
Save the File
- Choose your desired file location, then click Save.
